Nuclear Energy: Sustainable and Secure? C-10 board member, Chris Nord, offered a presentation and discussion on nuclear power today, climate change and energy security.
C-10 Public Forum "Radiation Risk & What You Can Do." The featured speaker was epidemiologist Dick Clapp, Ph. D., from the Boston University School of Public Health. The topic of discussion was a recent National Academy of Sciences report on increased health risks from radiation exposure to women and children living near nuclear power plants.
"Nuclear Power and Public Health" is an excellent editorial by Richard W. Clapp, published in the November 2005 issue of Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP). Richard W. Clapp is professor of public health at Boston University School of Public Health. His primary research focuses on environmental causes of cancer. He previously served as the director of the Massachusetts Cancer Registry and examined the pattern of leukemia near the Pilgrim nuclear power station in Massachusetts. EHP, a monthly peer-reviewed research and news journal, focuses on the impact of the environment on human health.
