She studies the ebb and flow of rivers, the forms that nature creates, and the cycle of life to incorporate into her sculptures. Angelil is an environmental artist who uses nature as a metaphor for the interplay of physical states and human emotions.

Carolyn Johnson is a Newburyport-based artist. “The Dock at Sunset” reflects her love of the deck at American Yacht Club, in Newburyport. She and her husband have enjoyed many sunset meals on the deck of the club. This particular scene happened to catch another member walking directly into the sun. The painting is based on a photo by Susan Connell.

Shoreline of Wonder

Rochelle J. Perry-Platine, e, a Haverhill-based artist, has participated at the Maudslay Sculpture Show and Books in Bloom, as well as other art events for many years. In this piece, old Plum Island driftwood harbors treasures collected along its shoreline, shells from distant shores, as well as a pair of air plants mimicking sea plants. The nails in the piece were reclaimed from an old New England home.
